CloudBacko Pro Trial / Linux Host / Oracle 12c RDBMS Authentication

Postby rkaufman0 » Sun May 08, 2016 3:23 am

I'm a Sr. database consultant trialing the product for potential purchase for several servers. I'm attempting to establish a backup set using an Oracle account for a 12c (12.1.0.2.5 version) database. The account (differs from system) has full DBA, SYSDBA, and JAVASYSPRIV permissions. Authentication is established just fine, but the immediate error message returned by the GUI is reported as follows:

COMMAND NOT SUPPORTED (SQL)

I'm uploading a screenshot but I don't have an effective way to troubleshoot the issue so I am at a standstill with my evaluation.

Thank you in advance for any input or direction to help resolve this issue.

I have solved my own problem as it turns out that the database being configured in this case was recently upgraded from 11g to 12c and the following library was pointing to an incorrect OS path. Once this library was re-created using the correct ORACLE_HOME, the problem with CloudBacko was resolved and the backup set can now be created.

--
-- DBMS_SUMADV_LIB (Library)
--
CREATE OR REPLACE LIBRARY SYS.DBMS_SUMADV_LIB
IS '/oracle/product/12.1.0/db_1/lib/libqsmashr.so'
/

This issue will probably be rare for most administrators but could trip others up when major database upgrades are performed.

Problem solved. Thank you.

The trial/test backup worked perfectly to our target cloud storage account, but unfortunately the RESTORE test indicates that the version of Oracle (RDBMS 12.1.0.2.X) might not be supported?

The error reported is:

ORA_DB_VERSION_NOT_SUPPORT

I just want to confirm if this in fact is the case. I will attempt testing with 11g instead but we already have 12c instances, so this would prevent us from moving forward on a potential purchase of this product.

Thanks.

Hello,

Thanks you for your interest in CloudBacko Pro.

Do you mind providing us with further details of your Oracle database setup:

1. Which Linux version is Oracle 12 installed on?
2. Which Restore options did do select? Do you mind providing us with a screen shot?
3. Are you restore to another host or the same host?

Hello.

My apologies for the late response.

Oracle 12c is currently not officially supported by CloudBacko.

We have already submitted an enhancement request on your behalf.
