I hav the Problem, that the backup is working but restore is not possible. I get error "NullPointerException" every time. I tried to restore as raw file, with offline Domino Server. Nothing works. Normal file backup is fine but no Domino mail database backup. It´s Domino 9 Server.

Hi,

For the restore as raw files. We ran test and were able to reproduce the same issues and working with our development team on this one.

About the restore, there should not be any issues with this so need to ask

- was this to the original location or alternative?
- was the backup to a local or cloud destination?
- the log is quick short, so would like ask about the backup source selection. Was the whole domino selection made?

To check on the issue further, is there any chance you can provide us with the logs from the backup? Would like to review the logs to see if there was any problems that may caused the issue.

Also, could you try running the restore in debug mode to help check for any additional errors?

Please use a editor such as notepad to open the RunCB.bat file located under C:\program files\CloudBacko\bin

Once the file is open, please find

DEBUG_MODE=""

and edit this to

DEBUG_MODE="--debug"

cd c:\program file\cloudbacko pro\bin
runcb.bat > c:\debug.log

This should start up CloudBacko in debug mode. Please run the restore and once the restore has completed, please send a link to the C:\debug.log and the backup logs.
If there are any message that is displayed on the command prompt window, can you also send us a screenshot of this and also copy the backup logs to Dropbox, OneDrive, Google drive etc and share the link on this thread for us to download?

I have what I believe is the same problem. All backups except the most recent have all the files greyed out. It allows me to check the box and try to restore a greyed out file. If I do this I get the exact same error. Why is it not possible to restore previous versions of domino files? You should probably disable the check boxes next to greyed out items in a future version if they are unable to be restored.

Hi cwEvan,

Could you clarify on the error you are getting? Are you getting the "[NullPointerException] null" message or do you mean that you have the message "[LotusExpt] Fail to create Lotus Backup Manager. Please restart the application. Error=Library runtime has been terminated improperly" when restoring?

In regards to the grayed out files. This indicates that the file is not the most current version, but you can still select and restore normally. Can you advise if you are restoring as a RAW file?

I get the same NullPointerException error. Here is the log.

The restores default to raw file. If I try to uncheck the raw file box, I get the following message:
Selected data only can restore as raw files. Reason=Backed up files are not enough for original and alternate restoration.

With the message about "Backed up files are not enough for original and alternate restoration." , can you advise on the selection made? Is this from the retention (grayed out files)? To help look into this do you mind copying the cdp logs folder and screen shot of the restore selection to Dropbox, OneDrive, Google drive etc and share the link on this thread for us to download? I have uploaded the file to google drive and PM'd the URL. Error occurs either way, current version or greyed out ones.

Hi cwEvan,

The logs and image suggest that you are running a "Raw File" restore. A problem has been found with "Raw file" restore which produces the "NullPointerException" error. The problem has already been reported previously to our dev team to look into.

About the "Backed up files are not enough for original and alternate restoration." message, are you getting this on this file also?

Hi cwEvan,

Can you tell me the version of Domino you are running a backup from?

Also, could you pm me the notes.ini and the content of the IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT folder? We would like to check on the setup and the logs for any issues on domino that could be causing an issue.

We are running Domino 8.5. I sent PM with notes.ini and the most recent files from IBM folder. The whole folder was many gigs. Let me know if I did not include a file that you need.

Hi cwEvan,

Have got the logs. Could not see any problems with the logs files. Your backup files does report an index issue, so can you run a Data Integrity Check first. Would suggest that you run a Data Integrity check with crc. For details on how to perform a "Data Integrity Check", please refer to the following FAQ article "How do I ensure the data integrity of the files in my backup sets?" viewtopic.php?f=58&t=81

Once done, please try the restore again. If the restore fails, can you send me a screen shot of the error you are seeing. Also, would you consider TeamViewer remote session so that we can connect and have a look at the restore issue with you? If this is possible, please let us know when would be a suitable time to arrange this.

I tried the integrity check with CRC. It completed with no errors. Still the same symptoms though. No ability to uncheck raw file box and same error on file restores. I'm about to leave town for the US holiday weekend. I'll PM my availability next week when I return so we can set up the remote session.

Hi,

Our development team have found the problem and provided an unofficial hotfix to resolve the problem of restoring raw files. If you would like to apply the unofficial hotfix, please follow the instructions below.

1. Make sure you are on at least CloudBacko Pro v1.11.2.0
2. Download http://cdn.cloudbacko.com/support/cb-al ... &11875.zip
3. Stop the CloudBacko Pro service in [Administrative Tools]>[Services]>[CloudBacko Pro Service]
4. Expand the files inside cb-all-hotfix-task11848&11875.zip to the "C:\Program Files\CloudBacko Pro\bin" folder
5. Startup the CloudBacko Pro service in [Administrative Tools]>[Services]>[CloudBacko Pro Service]

Once done, please run a restore and let us know of the results.

After installing hotfix it works! I can now restore all versions of the files in raw file mode.

I still get the same error if I uncheck the raw file box. I think that I would always want a raw file restore. What am I missing?

I'm having a similar issue with a new version of CloudBacko. Any thoughts on how I can get the raw mode working. It doesn't make sense to try the patch since it was meant for an much older version of the software. I'm currently on 2.7.
