Large daily incremental backup files

Postby Simson » Fri Aug 04, 2017 3:43 am

Hi, normally my daily CloudBackPro incremental backup file should be only around 5G, but in the past two days, it keep created an 50G file, the backup log has the following [info], is it the causes? And any idea how can I address it?

[2017/08/02 22:27:51] [info] [1488143754795] Unable to generate Delta File, Microsoft Exchange Server\Microsoft Information Store\MAILSVR1\65f724dd-4a34-41ad-a9de-5e11de0dc89d\BranchSG.edb is being backed up in its entirety.[IOException] [ReadAheadInputStream.Reader.run]@1753651360 Throwable=[ReadAheadInputStream.Reader.run]@862647285 Throwable=Direct buffer memory, caused by [IOException] [ReadAheadInputStream.Reader.run]@862647285 Throwable=Direct buffer memory, caused by [OutOfMemoryError] Direct buffer memory

Hi Simson,

For your information, it suggests that the direct buffer memory setting is not sufficient to support your current backup operation.

To resolve this, please change the direct buffer memory size in "%Cloudbacko_Home%\config.ini":

app.system.conf.vm.opt.maxdirectmemorysize=1024
app.system.ui.vm.opt.xmx=2048

Please restart the Cloudbacko service to try the backup again.

Thanks for your quick response.

In fact, my current setting is not even 1024, it was 512 only.

I have changed it to 2048 to see how it will go for next week.

Hi, I got the following error message on my last backup again. Is there anyway I can make the backup abort for any error like this? It generated a big file for the complete store backup, make it very hard for me to upload it to my colo site.

Hi Simson,

Can you please provide us with the latest Cloudbacko client log files for our investigation?

You can copy the log files to Dropbox, OneDrive, Google drive etc and share the link on this thread for us to download?

Please refer to our FAQ "Where are the CloudBacko backup and restore logs located?" viewtopic.php?f=58&t=233

Uploaded the problem log in zip format, please check and advice.

The issue come and go, suddenly happened for one time and then gone.

As said, only if I have anyway to set the program to not make any backup when err found, will be good enough as well.

Hi Simson,

As checked the backup log, it completed successfully with the "memory" issue. Since you are still running Cloudbacko v2.5.0.0, can you upgrade to the latest v2.9.0.1 to see if this help to resolve the problem first?
