CloudBacko License Violation message

Hello,

We've receive a License Violation message, we've 4 backup sets (1 esxi free license et 3 for esxi essential license).
In this way we've just pay 3 VMWare Backup Module licence to cover only esxi with essential license.

Can you help us?

Hi Morgan,

In order to check the backup set details to know whether there is a violation, could you PM me the "config" folder from the client machine? You can find it form the following path:
C:\users\{username}\.cbp\config

Then, we can check and provide you the assistance.

Hi Morgan,

We have received the config folder.

However, we need some more information from you for the checking. Could you confirm which exact version of Cloudbacko are you using?

Also, please zip and upload the client logs to dropbox, google drive or one-drive. Then, PM us the link to download the logs for checking.

Hello Raymond,

I've send you the cbp config directory including logs. We use the version 2.2.2.0 of CloudBacko Pro.

We've excede the resolution delay of the violation, please help us quickly.

Hi Morgan,

We have managed to retrieve the backupset information from the config folder. There are 4 VM backupsets created on your Cloudbacko Pro. However, we can only find 3 VMware Backup Module for your license.

In order to identify if the extra one is from an ESXi free backupset or not, could you access the following page of your side:
https://%your_vsphere_client_ip%/mob/?moid=ha-license-manager&doPath=licenses

Then, capture the screen shot which shows the "editionKey" parameter and PM me?

Here is an example of this parameter:

Hi Morgan,

Thank you for providing me the screenshots.

There are 4 ESX servers. Each of them is being backed up by a corresponding backupset on Cloudbacko Pro. However, we have further checked that your license key is on version 2 which is using CPU count instead. So, even 1 of the ESX servers is using free license, it is still being counted.

So, to resolve the issue, please purchase 1 more VMware Backup Module for your license on Cloudbacko Pro.


P.S. For your information, license version 2 is applied after v2.1.0.0.

Hello,

Oh ok, so in

version 1:
- No needes license for free ESXI servers
- 1 license by commercial ESXI server

version 2:
- 1 license by CPU (for commercial and free ESXI)

I'm right?

If yes the license module still have a problem because somes of our servers have 2 CPU.

Hi Morgan,

Further checked with the developer that, VM license is not counted for free ESXi server on version 2 license.

So, we are suspecting that, you are running 3 ESXi servers and 1 of them is using 2 CPU sockets. Could you kindly confirm?

You can also capture me the screen shots of the vsphere > ESXi server > Configuration > Processors page of all the 4 ESXi servers and PM me for the checking.
