Presales Question - How to restore VM guest due to hardware failure on Hyper-V host?

Postby psmb » Tue Jun 10, 2014 6:04 am

Good day.

I am investigating the use of CloudBacko pro to back up Hyper-V to USB.

What is the process of restoring the guest VMs if the VM Host needs to be rebuilt due to hardware failure?

Can I install CloudBackup Pro on a new Hyper-V host and then attach the USB to the new host for restoration?

Thanks!

If your original Hyper-V host has a hardware failure, to restore your virtual machines from your USB drive.

1. You can bring your standby Hyper-V host on line and plug in the USB drive
2. Install CloudBacko Pro on the new Hyper-V host
3. Import your original CloudBacko settings using [Utilities] > [Ex/Import Settings] > [Import CloudBacko Pro Settings]
4. You can now use the [Restore] to access your backed up virtual machines USB drive
